Finally completing my Studio Ghibli retrospective last month was quite a benchmark. I felt a real sense of accomplishment at having finished a look-back at 24 movies that I started more than three years previously.
Yet, as I joked with friends at the time, my basic state of mind at the end of the project was pretty much summed up below:

I plan to continue this movie blog and specifically to complete my other, still-ongoing, retrospective on Zhang Yimou’s movies. Beyond the Zhang retrospective, I have almost half a dozen other ideas for review series I could pursue.
Nevertheless, my recent experience with doing a substantial retrospective series shows me that these projects can take some time, both because of the work involved and because of how other, non-movie review demands can pop up.
With that in mind, let me simply say this much for now: I will continue to post reviews here, both of Zhang’s movies and other movies. Posting might be patchy and unpredictable in the future, however.
Whenever future reviews arrive, though, I will aim to make them worthwhile for readers of the Cameraman blog. Thanks for your patience, and I will see you around!
